XIA JINGXIN

XIA JINGXIN
Born 1985
Jiangsu, China

PROFILE
Her paintings focus on the reflections off window panes in different settings. These mirror the colossal scale of construction within the cities of China. Like Monet's studies of the Rouen cathedral, Jingxin attempts to capture the fleeting changes in lighting conditions. It speaks of the frenetic pace at which change is happening in her country and the collaboration within the community to create such new monuments. Yet each of her paintings distills the rapid and almost manic pace of change into a reflective piece on Modernity, a critical and meditative study of how humans have left indelible imprints on their environment. Graduated from Nanjing University of the Arts in 2007. Currently working and living in Beijing, China.
