I have been making photographs since the late 1990s. Not having much talent at painting and even less at music I was drawn to photography as a means of expressing myself artistically. I started with plants and trees. The textures of leaves, bark and roots as well as the colours and shapes of flowers appealed greatly. It was only later that I turned to street photography, an activity that now gives me much pleasure. I compose images that take elements of the city and combine them in ways that appeal to the eyes and invite exploration or thought. Contrast of color, texture or subject are key to my work. And the city provides an almost infinite array of possibilities, limited only by my physical endurance and ability to see. |
