Nothing robs us of our humanity, more than in our perpetuation of a system that institutes murder through the death penalty. The violence is so palpable with the tearing in half of a living soul. The black blindfold, a dark mark of those awaiting death is the focus and yet somehow we see the eyes behind it, of the right one staring straight at us, at once accusatory as it pleads. The other rendered wide eyed, petrified as the hurt and shock must have ripped through the senses before the nerves could even send the signal for pain. |
